Skeptic Ink Network- Where Cowards Go to Stroke Each Other

-
Well that didn't take long- I demonstrate that Kevin R. McCarthy is conflating what IDists believe with Intelligent Design and he puts me in moderation, which means most likely my comments will not see the light of day.

Kevin R McCarthy is a lying coward, period. He doesn't understand science and sure as hell could not produce a testable hypothesis for his position- actually he seems quite confused about what his position is.

But anyway the Skeptic Ink Network is where the coward went to spew more of his cowardly lies and equivocations.

Oh well, when you cannot beat 'em, ban 'em...

Well, I am new to your blog. Perhaps you could use your own space here to convince me you are correct in your above stated assertions so that we may judge for ourselves, rather than resorting to an as yet unfounded ad hominem?

    Oh look! Comment moderation.

Hi Tris- Just search for Kevin R McCarthy/ ogre and read what I have written.

As for Kevin conflating what IDists believe with ID just read his posts and comments over on Skeptic Ink.

8 comments now waiting in Kevin's moderation. Each either expose his lies and misconceptions, or the nonsense of fellow posters.

Kevin thinks hail is made up of WATER for Pete's sake. I forgot to ask what he thinks RAIN is made up of.

Hail is made from water. Are you thinking of graupel? If not, what do you think hail is made of? Please don't say ice.

Hail is made up of ice. That is the definition of hail.

  • At 8:00 PM, Blogger Unknown said…

Sooo, how do you think the ice that constitutes hail is formed, and from what?

The following is the first line from Wikipedia's entry on ice.

"Ice is water frozen into the solid state"

OK Tris- where did the water come from? Guess what? It came here as ICE.

Fuck we can define water as "ice that has melted".

If you go to a bar and order a drink on the rocks do you expect ICE or your drink with water?

Would you rather be hit in the face with a water balloon or a chunk of ICE?

"OK Tris- where did the water come from? Guess what? It came here as ICE."

    I'll buy that.

"Fuck we can define water as "ice that has melted"."

Yes we can, and do. We can also define ice as water that has changed phase. Just as water changes phase again to vapour. But this is the important thing here, phase transitions do not change the molecular properties of any of them. Water is unusual in that from lower to higher temperatures its phase transitions go from solid to liquid to gas; other compounds and elements have different phase transitional changes.

The molecular properties of other compounds and elements remain unchanged in their respective phase transitions. This is not rocket science.

Ice is no better or worse an accurate description of H2O in its solid state than water is an accurate description of H2O in its liquid state; they are just nouns we use to describe the different phases of H2O.

In summary, it doesn't matter whether you call it ice, water or vapour. The important thing is that you both agree on the fact that hail is H2O. As is rain and humidity.

    Tris,

There is a difference between hail and rain. People who say hail is made up of water lose that distinction.

My ten year old understands tat hail is made up of ice, not water.

Does your ten year-old know that hail and rain are both different phases of the same molecule?

    Anything else is semantics.

  • At 10:28 PM, Blogger Joe G said…

Is it semantics when you order a Jack on the rocks and you receive a Jack & water?

Is it semantics when you are having a water-balloon fight and someone hits you with an ice filled balloon?

Is it semantics when you go out driving in a hail storm and your car gets damaged by ICE impactors?

    Oh shit, a phasechangedidit!
